People: We praise you, for we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Leader: Wonderful are your works; our souls know it very well.
All: Let us worship the Lord together!
Invocation & Lord's Prayer
Our Father, Who Art in Heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. AMEN
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Gracious Father, you’ve blessed us so greatly. You’ve given your Son as an atonement for our sins. You’ve placed a calling on our lives. You’ve sent your Holy Spirit to aid us in fulfilling your commands. Yet, like sheep we have gone astray. We’ve remained isolated, unmoved, and resistant. O Lord, forgive us our hesitations, and help us to become more active for the sake of your kingdom. Hear us now as we confess our sins to you... (silent confession)
Assurance of Pardon
Doxology Hymn 342, v. 5
Laud and honor to the Father, laud and honor to the Son,
Laud and honor to the Spirit, ever Three and ever One,
One in might, and One in glory, while unending ages run.
Anthem - “We Walk by Faith” (McFarland) Choir
We walk by faith and not my sight. No gracious words we hear
from Christ, who spoke as none e’er spoke. But we believe Him near.
We may not touch His hands and side, Nor follow where he trod.
But in His promise we rejoice, and cry, “My Lord and God!”
Help then, O Lord, our unbelief. And may our faith abound to
call on You when You are near and seek where You are found.
Prayer of Illumination
Text – James 2:14-26
Sermon - "A Dead Faith Doesn't Work"
Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. AMEN
We go nowhere by accident… Wherever we go, God is sending us… God has a purpose for our being there…and He has given His Holy Spirit to us.
Postlude - “If Thou But Trust in God” (Hymn 670)
